What Is The Grand Rapids Internet Exchange (GRR-iX)?

The Grand Rapids Internet Exchange is a not-for-profit Regional Internet Exchange Point (IXP). This IXP, where networks come together to peer or exchange traffic, reduces the traffic a member purchases from an upstream transit provider. The collaboration of local, regional, and global networks allows traffic to be shared freely between members rather than paying a large Tier 1 provider to make the connection. 

Who Can Connect?

Any organization that controls an ASN and IP addresses can connect to an exchange point. Some example organizations include Internet Service Providers, Content Delivery Networks, Automotive Manufacturing, Academic Institutions, Local Governments, and many more.
